Lenell Topol McCallum joined Newton Remmel in 1996. Her practice has
primarily involved insurance coverage, providing coverage analysis under
technology, multimedia, errors and omissions, general liability, and
property policies. She has actively litigated coverage issues related to
trade secrets, patent and trademark infringement, products liability,
employers’ liability cases, and has defended bad faith suits seeking
contractual and extra-contractual damages. In addition, Ms. McCallum has
drafted employment and consulting agreements, advised clients regarding
various employment-related and severance issues, and has been involved
in a variety of general business litigation.
Ms. McCallum served as a law clerk for the San Francisco Superior Court,
working primarily in the Law and Motion Department for the Honorable
John E. Benson and the Honorable Ira A. Brown, Jr. She then became a
staff attorney for the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency. Her practice
involved housing development, land use, landlord tenant, public bidding
of contracts, employment, real estate, relocation, affirmative action
and compliance with federal, state and municipal regulations. Later, she
was an associate with the law firm of Carr & Mussman where she practiced
commercial and antitrust litigation. Among other things, the firm
handled cases involving price fixing, market allocation, monopolization,
tie-ins, refusals to deal and mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. McCallum graduated from the University of California at Santa
Barbara with High Honors in 1975, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Sociology, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her Juris
Doctorate degree at the University of San Francisco and graduated with
Honors and as a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society in 1978. She was a
recipient of the 1976 American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Procedure.
